This fix is especially important for users who face this error with games stored in certain specific folders. Here are the steps to perform the ownership of the game folder.
  • Locate the installed game folder, usually in C drive.
  • Right-click on the main folder and click on Properties
  • Click on Security tab > Advanced
  • Click on the Change link with the admin icon
  • Type Everyone in the Enter the object name to select field.
  • Check the Replace owner on sub containers and objects and click Apply and OK.
Now the game folders have complete ownership and permission. GeForce Experience should be able to scan and detect the games on your system. If not, follow the next fix.

Fix 3 – Uninstall and Reinstall GeForce Experience

If both the above fixes have failed to resolve the GeForce Experience Scanning Failed Error, it’s time to take a much drastic step and reinstall the GeForce Experience afresh. To do it, first, you have to uninstall all components of Nvidia GeForce Experience and reinstall a fresh copy for the software. You can download the latest software from the Official GeForce Experience website.

Follow the normal procedure for uninstalling GeForce Experience. Go to Control Panel > Uninstall a Program and uninstall the application.

Once you have uninstalled the application, perform a clean install of the fresh copy you download using the above link. Double-click on the executable file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the GeForce Experience.

Launch the application and the error message GeForce Experience Scanning Failed should have disappeared.
